Mr. Buddy Smith is the founder of FCS, Incorporated.  Smith founded FCS, Incorporated in 1988.  He is a 1976 graduate of Averett University and holds degrees in both Business Management and Mathematics.  After college, Smith entered the Kroger Company as a store manager and served in that capacity for eight years.  He then took a position with Diamond Paper Company, a janitorial and paper supply company based in Danville, Virginia.  Smith quickly became Diamond’s janitorial expert, servicing many major accounts throughout North and South Carolina.  During that time, Smith trained housekeeping departments for major universities, hospitals, nursing homes, and industrial plants.  As an expert in the field, Smith was featured in training videos produced by JohnsonDiversey, the largest janitorial chemical manufacturer in the world.  Smith left Diamond Paper Company in 1998 to focus on the expansion of FCS, Incorporated.  Buddy retired at the end of 2015, but his mark on the business will never leave.

 

Mr. Conrad Smith currently serves as the CEO and majority owner of FCS, Incorporated and FCS Industrial Solutions.  The oldest son of founder Buddy Smith has tripled the size of FCS, Incorporated since his hiring in the spring of 2005.  The younger Smith is a 2003 graduate of Danville Community College, a 2005 graduate of Averett University with a degree in Political Science, a 2006 graduate of JohnsonDiversey’s Building Service Contracting Institute in Racine, Wisconsin, and in 2009 received his designation as a Certified Building Services Executive (CBSE) through the Building Service Contractors Association.  He continues his industry education by attending national conferences and training sessions twice a year.  Smith oversees all daily operations for the janitorial and industrial solutions business, with a focus on major account development.

Mr. Stuart Smith currently serves as CFO and Vice President of FCS, Incorporated and FCS Industrial Solutions.  The youngest son of founder Buddy Smith oversees all financial operations for the company on both the janitorial and industrial sides.  He graduated as valedictorian from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia before attending The College of William and Mary where he graduated with high honors and a degree in history.  Prior to joining FCS, he spent several years working in operations for a large international patent law firm in northern Virginia.  He oversees all aspects of the back office and financial operations for the company, and holds a minority ownership stake in both companies.

Mr. Gene Yost is the Director of Operations for Central and Southwest Virginia.  Mr. Yost joined FCS, Incorporated in January of 2008, and focused on business development in Lynchburg, VA and surrounding areas.  After starting with one small account, Yost currently oversees janitorial operations for numerous facilities in the area, including multiple facilities with more than 500,000 square foot under roof.  He has helped expand the company into the Roanoke Valley over the past few years, where we now manage some of the most prestigous janitorial accounts in the Valley.  Yost joined FCS, Incorporated after spending the previous three years as a professional baseball player in the Washington Nationals’ organization.  He holds a degree in Business Management from Averett University and is a lifelong resident of Lynchburg. 

Mr. Kenny Payne joined FCS, Incorporated in 2010 and currently serves as the Director of Operations for Southern Virginia on the janitorial side of the business.  Kenny is a 2000 graduate of Tunstall High School and a 2005 graduate of Averett University with a degree in Physical Education.  After graduating college, Kenny formed his own renovation company in Danville, Virginia.  Kenny ran his company successfully for five years prior to joining FCS.  In the spring of 2010, he saw a great opportunity to bring his management skills in to the FCS family.  Kenny currently handles all daily operations for FCS, Incorporated in Danville and Martinsville, Virginia.  As the leading service provider in southern Virginia, FCS, Incorporated services millions of square feet each and every day.  In addition to his responsibilities on the janitorial side, Kenny assists with various operational needs on the industrial side as well.

 

Mr. Meryln Hermanson holds the position of Operations Manager with FCS, Incorporated working out of the Danville office.  He oversees accounts in Danville and Chatham, handling many accounts with over 100,000 square foot under roof..  Meryln holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota and a graduate degree from Liberty University.  Prior to joining FCS, Incorporated, Merlyn held executive positions with several national non-profit organizations.

Mrs. Kim Wyatt joined FCS in 2016 and serves as the office administrator. She graduated from Averett University with a Bachelors of Finance.  Prior to joining FCS she worked for 15 years in various administrative positions with Danville Regional Medical Center and Lifepoint Hospitals.  She handles all office functions out of the corporate office in Danville, Virginia.

Mr. Jeff Atkins joined the FCS family in 2016 and currently serves as Director of Sales. Jeff is a 2000 graduate of Dan River High School and a 2002 graduate of the Precision Machine Program at Danville Community College. He worked in the machining and fabrication industry with Babcock and Wilcox for ten years, where he held high level government security clearance. He then joined Jarrett Welding and Machine as General Manager for three years prior to joining FCS. Jeff spends the majority of his time working on major account development on the Industrial Solutions side of the business. 

Mrs. Kristy Terry joined FCS, Incorporated in early 2017 and currently serves as Operations Manager in Central Virginia. Kristy oversees multiple high priority accounts on the janitorial side of the business, and handles various quality control and staff management functions. She holds a degree in Global Marketing Management from Averett University, where she graduated in 2003. Prior to joining FCS, Kristy held the position of Facilities Manager for a production facility with over 1.5 million square feet under roof. In that position, she managed all facility maintenance and housekeeping functions.

Mr. Mark Leech joined FCS, Incorporated in 2013 and currently serves as an Operations Manager in Central and Southwest Virginia on the janitorial side of the business. Mark has over 15 years of experience in commercial housekeeping and hard floor care across a variety of industries. In his current role, Mark oversees accounts in both Lynchburg and Roanoke, Virginia. He handles a number of functions related to quality control and customer satisfaction.
